YEREVAN, DECEMBER 23, ARTSAKHPRESS. Armenia and Azerbaijan must seek opportunities for dialogue and pathways for achieving peace agreement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in his remarks during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

“Four trilateral statements have been approved, on which work is being done, but of course, it would be better to speed up that work. And whatever issues emerge, I am convinced that it is moreover necessary to regularly meet, agree, strengthen trust and prepare grounds for the resolution of all issues,” Lavrov said.

The Russian FM expressed regret over Armenia’s rejection of a trilateral meeting between the foreign ministers.

“Today we had agreed to host a meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers to continue the discussion around the peace treaty. We were preparing for this event but unfortunately at the last moment our Armenian colleagues refused to come to Moscow, explaining it by the situation on the ground. It is regretful that such an opportunity was missed,” Lavrov said.
