YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, ARTSAKHPRESS. The situation related to Lachin corridor is not a precondition for Armenia for continuing negotiations with Azerbaijan,Russia is preparing a meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan but at this moment the Armenian FM’s participation isn’t yet confirmed, MP and Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan said at a press briefing.

The Armenian Foreign Minister’s participation in the possible meeting of the foreign ministers which Moscow said it is preparing will depend on the situation at the given moment, Khandanyan said.  Nevertheless, there is no problem for participating in meetings initiated by any mediator, he added.  The foreign ministry will present further information when specified.

Asked whether a meeting is possible amid the ongoing blockade of the Lachin corridor, Khandanyan said: “The Armenian side doesn’t have such precondition.”

He underscored that the way to unblock the Lachin corridor is clearly written in the 9 November 2020 trilateral agreement, that is – the Lachin corridor must function uninterruptedly, the Russian peacekeeping forces must control the corridor while the Azerbaijani side must ensure security.
