Armenian MPs meet CoE Deputy Secretary General, present crisis resulting from Azerbaijani blockade of Lachin corridor

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 17, ARTSAKHPRESS. On February 17, the Vice President of the National Assembly, the Head of the Armenian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Ruben Rubinyan, the members of the delegation met with the Council of Europe (CoE) Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge.

“Welcoming the guest, Ruben Rubinyan valued the cooperation with the Council of Europe and the support of the organization in the process of the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia.

Thanking Rubinyan for the reception, the Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General underlined the high level of the Armenia-CoE cooperation.

During the meeting regional problems were also discussed. The Armenian parliamentarians drew the guest’s attention to the blockade of Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan for more than two months and the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno Karabakh because of it.

A reference was made to the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026.

Ideas were exchanged also normalisation process of Armenia-Turkey relations.

The sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the effective collaboration in a number of directions,” the Armenian parliament’s press service said in a read-out.
