Artsakh’s parliament calls for sending a monitoring group to Artsakh

Artsakh

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 22, ARTSAKHPRESS. The parliament of the Republic of Artsakh issued a statement expressing its satisfaction with those countries that condemned the closure of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan. ARMENPRESS reports, the statement particularly reads as follows, “On December 12, 2022, under false environmental pretext, once again grossly violating the agreements reached by the trilateral declaration of November 9, 2020, the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world by the Azerbaijani authorities, tends to turn into a humanitarian disaster and disrupt the fragile peace and create new regional destabilization. The highest legislative body of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) expresses its gratitude to the countries concerned about the problem, international organizations: the UN Security Council, the ECHR for responding to the humanitarian crisis created in the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), which is besieged by Azerbaijan. The National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh appeals to the United Nations to expose the provocations of the Azerbaijani authorities under the fictitious pretext of environmental protection, to apply the necessary international tools, in particular to send a monitoring group to the Republic of Artsakh and adjacent areas within the framework of the Environment Program (UNEP), aimed at learning about regional environmental problems and presenting appropriate recommendations. We expect to resolve the crisis situation created in the region with practical steps.”
