At the meeting with the President of Malta, FM Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of reopening the Lachin Corridor

YEREVAN, MARCH 30, ARTSAKHPRESS. The President of the Republic of Malta George Vella received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan in Valletta on March 30.

ARMENPRESS reports, the interlocutors highlighted the first bilateral official high-level visit from Armenia to Malta since the establishment of interstate relations and expressed confidence that it will give a new boost to the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Issues of cooperation between Armenia and Malta on multilateral platforms were also discussed during the meeting. The interlocutors referred to the expanding Armenia-EU partnership. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the continuous support of the EU in the direction of strengthening democracy and implementing the ambitious reform agenda in Armenia.

Regional security issues were also in the focus of the interlocutors. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia presented to the President of Malta the security situation in the South Caucasus, the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of reopening the Lachin Corridor without preconditions, which is blocked by Azerbaijan, demonstrating a constructive approach to key issues related to the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and fulfilling commitments, instead of Azerbaijan’s belligerent rhetoric and provocations.
