BTA. Robotic Cleaning Assistant SOFie Begins Work at Sofia Airport

International

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 9, ARTSAKHPRESS. Robotic cleaning assistant SOFie has begun work at Sofia Airport, the airport’s press centre reported. SOFie is provided by Germany’s Dr. Sasse company, which has been in charge of Sofia Airport’s cleaning since March 2022.

The robotic assistant, which can be seen on Terminal 2, is equipped with the most contemporary technological and operational capabilities. It has many sensors allowing it to carry out its functions. SOFie can clean for up to five hours on a single battery charge and has low water consumption.

Sofia Airport CEO Jesus Caballero said that SOFie is not only an efficient assistant that will improve Sofia Airport’s environment but also a magnet for passengers, who are already taking photos with the robot.

In March 2022, a new model for managing the cleaning processes at Sofia Airport was introduced after Dr. Sasse took on that role, the airport reported back then. Introduced were new systems for controlling access and calculating working hours and the work done. The German company promised to introduce high-tech solutions, including the use of specialized sensors and surveillance software, as well as the latest cleaning technologies.
