YEREVAN, APRIL 12, ARTSAKHPRESS. Ambassador-at-large Edmon Marukyan has called on the international community – while making statement about the April 11 Azeri attack on Armenian troops – to take into account that the attack happened in sovereign territory of Armenia.
“While making statements regarding yesterday’s incident on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, our international partners should clearly realize that the incident took place on the sovereign territory of Armenia. I.e., the Azerbaijani armed forces invaded the territory of Armenia and provoked an incident. Azerbaijan is an aggressor state and from 2021 until now, it has carried out many aggressive actions against the sovereign territories of Armenia. Our demand has not changed – the Azerbaijani armed forces have to leave the territories of Armenia, otherwise, provocations like this will continue. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia are not subject to discussion,” Marukyan tweeted.
On April 11, Armenian troops carrying out engineering works near the village of Tegh close to the border with Azerbaijan came under heavy gunfire in an unprovoked attack. Four Armenian soldiers were killed and six wounded.
