New Indian Ambassador presents credentials to Armenian President

YEREVAN, APRIL 10, ARTSAKHPRESS. The new Ambassador of India to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha has presented her credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

President Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador on assuming office and wished her all the best, the president’s office said in a readout.

“Relations with India are very important to Armenia. It’s no coincidence that shortly after independence Armenia and India established diplomatic relations. During these years, our relations developed dynamically in all areas, political, economic and cultural. I am sure that through joint work we will achieve new success, because there is great willingness from both sides. This is noticeable in the intensity of our relations especially in the last six months,” the Armenian president said.

Ambassador Nilakshi Saha Sinha thanked for the warm reception and conveyed President of India Droupadi Murmu’s warm greetings. “As you mentioned, we have rather active partnership in a number of directions, political, economic and cultural, and as you emphasized, a deepening of these relations is noticed in the recent period. I can assure you that I will do my best during my tenure in order for the relations to further deepen and encompass a greater circle,” the Indian ambassador said.

During the meeting issues relating to the sectors of the Armenian-Indian cooperation were discussed. The need for continuously fulfilling the great potential for partnership between Armenia and India in trade, political, educational and cultural areas was underscored. In this context, the importance of launching direct flights between Armenia and India, development of parliamentary diplomacy and high-level mutual visits were emphasized.

President Khachaturyan discussed regional realities and presented details on the humanitarian crisis resulting from the blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan.

Both sides attached importance to strengthening the existing cooperation in international platforms and joint work around agenda items.
