YEREVAN, APRIL 12, ARTSAKHPRESS. Russia says its troops and Border Guards in Armenia took measures to de-escalate the situation on April 11 near the village of Tegh where an Azerbaijani attack left four Armenian troops dead and six wounded.

She described the attack as an “armed incident.”

“An armed incident took place on April 11 in the line of contact near the village of Tegh,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing. “The representatives of the Russian Armed Forces and the Border Guards of the Federal Security Service in the area immediately contacted those in charge in Armenia and Azerbaijan and took measures to de-escalate the tension.”

Zakharova stressed the importance of maintaining the trilateral agreements.

“What happened once again confirms the need for mutual restraint by Baku and Yerevan and unconditional adherence to the trilateral complex agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia,” she added.

On April 11, Armenian troops carrying out engineering works near the village of Tegh close to the border with Azerbaijan came under heavy gunfire in an unprovoked attack. Four Armenian soldiers were killed and six wounded.
