YEREVAN, APRIL 25, ARTSAKHPRESS. Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan held a meeting on April 25 with a delegation of journalists, businessmen, lawyers and public figures from Argentina who are on an exploratory visit to Armenia.

Hovhannisyan presented the positive course of the traditionally friendly bilateral relations between Armenia and Argentina, the foreign ministry said in a readout. In this context, the regular political dialogue, expansion of the legal framework, development of trade and inter-parliamentary ties and cultural relations were emphasized.

The Deputy FM presented the current situation around the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the ongoing blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and the latter’s illegal installation of checkpoint on April 23 in violation of the clause 6 of the 9 November 2020 trilateral statement. The importance of international actors’ targeted reactions was underscored to pressure Azerbaijan to end the blockade and fulfill the February 22 ruling of the International Court of Justice.

An exchange of views around urgent regional and international issues also took place.

The Lachin Corridor has been blocked by Azerbaijan since 12 December 2022.

The United Nations’ highest court – the International Court of Justice (ICJ) – ordered Azerbaijan on February 22 to “take all steps at its disposal” to ensure unimpeded movement of persons, vehicles and cargo along the Lachin Corridor in both directions. Azerbaijan has so far ignored the ruling.
