YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 10, ARTSAKHPRESS. The Russian Embassy in Armenia responded to a media report which claimed that Russia intends to open a consulate in the Syunik province of Armenia.
When asked to comment on the report, the embassy told ARMENPRESS that no such requests were made.
The Zhoghovurd newspaper reported on February 10 that the Russian Embassy wants to open a consulate in Syunik and has communicated its intentions through various channels to the Armenian government. In response to a query from the Zhoghovurd newspaper, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said: “The Republic of Armenia has not received an official proposal from the Russian Federation on opening a Russian consulate in the province of Syunik.”
